INTRO TO LONG RANGE

Taught by an NRA/USCAA certified instructor, this is an eight-hour introduction to long range rifle shooting class. We will cover the basics of the operation of rifles, optics and accessories. We will discuss firing positions, trigger control, breathing, range etiquette and most importantly, safety.

  1. We will start by understanding our ballistics (rifle and ammo combination)
  2. We will discuss scopes and reticles
  3. How to range distances using your scope (math is involved)
  4. Angles and what they do to your calculations (more math)
  5. Understanding wind
  6. Discuss many more factors that can/will affect your bullet trajectory.
  7. Finally, we will shoot rounds at 25-yards to make sure we are on paper
  1. Start with soft/hard zero at 100 yards
  2. Hard zero at 200 yards
  3. Move to 300, 500 & 700 yards if conditions are good
  4. Spotting for someone else (giving/understanding commands)
  1. 200 rounds of ammunition (Match grade, and correct for your rifle)
  2. Quality Rifle and Scope (MOA and MIL dot reticle preferred)
  3. Bipod or appropriate rifle rest
  4. Eye/Ear protection
  5. Note Taking Material
  6. Calculator
