First Shot: A Beginner Shooting Experience

Never fired a gun before? This is where you start.

First Shot is a welcoming, 60 to 90-minute introduction designed for people with no firearm experience. With step-by-step guidance from an instructor, you’ll learn the basics and safely experience your first shots in a controlled, confidence-building environment.

This is your first step—not a full training course. Most guests continue into our Essential Firearm Skills Level One class to build real confidence and independence.

Essential Firearm Skills Level One

Ready to build real confidence? This beginner-friendly class teaches safe firearm handling and core shooting
fundamentals, followed by guided live fire with an instructor by your side. By the end, you’ll be prepared to shoot independently at our range and continue to Essential Firearm Skills Level Two.

This rotating, scenario-based training program is designed to help you apply your skills under real-world conditions.
Each session focuses on a specific skill and concludes with a performance-based exercise, allowing you to test your ability and track your progress over time. Built to be repeated, it helps you sharpen performance, improve reaction time, and build confidence through consistent, structured training.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must be 18 to train independently. Youth ages 12 to 17 can participate with a parent or legal guardian present on the range. For safety reasons, children under 12 are not permitted.

Our classes teach safe firearm handling, proper grip and stance, range procedures, and confidence-building skills. Depending on the course, you may also learn defensive mindset, legal considerations, and goal-specific training in a safe, welcoming environment.

Always treat every firearm as loaded, never point it at anything you are not willing to destroy, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and know your target and what is beyond it.

The first lesson is to treat every firearm as if it is loaded. This habit builds safe handling skills from the start and helps prevent the most common accidents.

No experience is required, and you do not need your own firearm for beginner courses. We provide the equipment and create a safe, welcoming environment where you can learn at your own pace.

There is no single best age. What matters most is readiness, responsibility, and proper instruction in a safe, welcoming environment, whether you are a teen training with a parent or an adult learning for the first time.
